So much for Cody

Vibe-coding sounds amazing until things start to go sideways. I'm finally learning the hard lesson.

The recommended stack for a website or app is Vercel for hosting and Supabase for database management and storage. Both offer free accounts, so it's a low-risk way to get started. My agent, Cody, created and has been maintaining the app that stores the archive of the personal development calls that Vital Health has Monday-Friday. So far, everything has gone swimmingly.

This morning, I received an email from Vercel saying I have reached 100% of the allotted 10GB of free storage. I was surprised because I didn't think all the work was taking up that much space since the bulk of the files are stored on Supabase. It turns out the lion's share of the space was stale deployments that stick around by default for 30 days. 

I thought this would be an easy fix. I had Cody tell me what to look for, so I wouldn't blow up the app in Prod, and started deleting. The space indicator did not move. Vercel has a feature where deleted deployments go into a "recently deleted" holding period, so they can be restored for up to 30 days. They still count toward the limit while they're in there. It's like files in the trash. You have to permanently empty the trash to remove them. Well, Vercel doesn't really have that option. Vercel AI suggested you could restore a deployment and then permanently delete it, but I didn't find that option. 

I'm not surprised they don't make this easy because they want people to pay for more storage. Well, the impact is that I cannot deploy any updates, but at least the app still works. For now, I'm going to wait it out as long as I can before paying for an account to increase storage. I'll also have Cody pay more attention to storage concerns in general to ensure I don't find myself in this situation again.
