Sore back

For the last couple of days, my lower back has been sore. I don’t recall doing anything specific to injure it. That’s the joy of getting older. You wake up one morning and suddenly have inexplicable aches and pains. I had a massage yesterday afternoon, and that helped. I was using the heating pad while working today.

In the past, I would have used it as an excuse not to exercise. Instead, I put in a solid 1h 45m ping pong session. My back is none too pleased. Maybe I should have taken it easy after all.

Mostly I live pain-free, and I’m grateful for that. When I have a minor annoyance like this, it gives me an appreciation for the days when I feel perfectly fine. I know people who live with chronic pain, and it must be an absolute nightmare.

I am already preparing myself for soreness after I start rucking. I’m still out of shape, but I have been more active the last several months than in many years. I hope the headstart will keep my body from protesting too much. If I do get sore, it’s nothing a visit to The Wellness Bar can’t fix.
