Start with why bs

Start with why, they say. Utter bs.
Sometimes, life is not handed to you so neat and tidy that you can sit down, think clearly, and write down your why. Actually, not just sometimes, but most of the time.
Most of the time, your why is emergent.
And it wasn’t born from the start, it emerged from the end.
It came from ten thousand hours of practising and failing and trying and learning.
It came from luck, being in the same room at the right time with the right people.
It came from months, years, even decades, of pain, frustration, uncertainty, hope.
Your why came at the end of all that, and from it, signalled a new season, new beginning.
But people and consultants and lame book writers conveniently forget that and tell you to just start with why, as if that why will magically appear from the ether as you will it.
Don’t start with why.
Your why is neither the start, nor end.
Don’t get distracted by wanting a why.
Keep going.
