Stutz

A buddy of mine texted me a couple of weeks ago with a documentary suggestion. He said it was called Stutz and it’s on Netflix. I told him I got rid of Netflix a while back. He said it’s worth getting the free trial to watch this documentary. He didn’t want to give anything away, but with such a full-throated recommendation, I finally had to reactivate Netflix to watch it.

The documentary is a rather intimate look at therapy as experienced by the actor Jonah Hill. His stated reason for making the film was to share the viewpoints of his therapist (the eponymous Stutz) and the tools that he’s used to improve his life.

I found many of the techniques similar to those I have studied through various meditations. I’ve never been to a therapist. I suppose the closest I got to it was at 40 Years of Zen. It’s rather interesting how much power we have with our minds and imaginations to control our states and recover from trauma and past events.

If you are interested in self-improvement or just a curiosity about therapy and some tools you can use, you might enjoy this film.
