Takoyaki profitability

Absolutely love these neighborhood takoyaki stands in Japan. This one pops up when night falls, and it’s a joy to walk past.

The sizzle, the smell, the sight.
Stands like these are rare to find, delightful to buy from.

Selling something small.
Making a comfortable living.
Local. Familiar. Friendly.

I love this. I love the concept of them.
I want to be like them.

Then I realize I already do, but online.

I don’t need to be the McDonald’s of takoyaki. Or the Apple of tech. Unicorn status and billion-dollar valuations sound cool, but you know what’s even more cool? A blank calendar, location freedom, ample time with family.

Takoyaki profitablity > Unicorn startup non-profitability

Cosy ambitions for a cosy life stage.
(Bonus: To actually do this in Japan!)

“Dignity” is the word that comes to mind when I look at that picture.
