The best form of desire

The best form of desire: Not dying for it, but not dead to it either.

That’s how Chiangmai feels to me.

On the “I’m dead to it” end of the spectrum would be Singapore.
On the “Dying for it” end of the spectrum would be Japan.

Chiangmai sits nicely in the middle.

I don’t hate it or feel apathy for it.
I don’t long for it so much that it impairs my judgement.
I want it just enough.

Not dying for it.
Not dead to it.
Perfect balance.

They say, the best leverage in negotiation is to want it but yet can walk away from it. Likewise the best way to desire something.

I’m talking about relocating to a new city, but this post isn’t really about relocation.
