I saw an article published in Popular Science claiming to list the best website builders of 2022. If you want to see the details, you can read the article here.

TL;DR
Best Overall: Wix
Best for small business: Square Online
Best for eCommerce: Shopify
Best free: Wordpress
Easiest to use: Strikingly

I’ve tried using Wordpress, and I was not impressed. Once you sort out the whole confusion of Wordpress.com vs. Wordpress.org, you are inundated with too many choices. Unless you know what you’re doing, I don’t think Wordpress is the one to use.

In the back of my mind, I have been wanting to create a website home for Be Wellthy. Substack does a great job of making it easy to send out a newsletter, but the homepage for the newsletter sucks. I have all sorts of ideas for a webpage with better organization. I’ll still keep the newsletter, but I want the home page for better organization. In my review of the various website builders, I had landed on using Wix. I’m glad to see that it was rated best overall. Now I just have to sit down and make it happen.

Though I’m a diehard Carrd fan, I would say use the one you’re most comfortable with. Wix is pretty good for starters too.

I would like to try Carrd, but something disturbs me about that extraneous “r.”

@therealbrandonwilson @jasonleow I love Carrd! It is awesome for simple sites.

Having tried Wix and Squarespace, I get irritated with both of those more than Carrd.

Jason, I really want to try your Carrd plugins too! Just haven’t had the chance yet.

@therealbrandonwilson How does Softr compare to Carrd based exclusively on their non-standard spelling?

@Winkletter Reminds me too much of Microsoft so PASS.

@therealbrandonwilson I love the name but hating using it - always end up typing “cardd”

@clark oh yeah me too. Tried Wix and Squarespace, too buggy or slow compared to Carrd. It also helps that I’m supporting a fellow indie with Carrd. Let me know when you do want to try! There’s a few free ones. And you know how to code, so it’ll be easy for you!
