The big lie about competition, in indie hacking

Shaan Puri dropping some bombs about competition:
And with vibe coding and and how easy it is to code software now with AI, this lie is 10x more true than ever.
Half will say they will vibe code but never.
Many will try it once, twice, give up when they hit the limits.
A small minority get “one shot” something, but lose momentum and interest after a week.
Another small minority will get distracted, go from Lovable to Replit, Cursor to Windsurf…
Maybe just one other guy is serious and committed enough to compete with you.
And I’m not just parroting.
This is true based on my own experience with my current products, albeit without vibe coding then. I had competitors pop up doing what I did. Often appearing on the scene with a big splash. I’d feel maybe a few minutes of concern. Then go back to doing my own thing. Many months later, I no longer hear about them. They seldom stick around, despite being promising.
“I’ve had a lot of worries in my life, most of which never happened” – Mark Twain
We have many competitors, most of which never happened.

@haideralmosawi Truth - many will give up just because they saw there’s one other competitor

Yeah but there’s this one other dude. I bet he’ll do a better job than me.
I kid! 🤣
This is very true. And with your vibe coding example: there are lots of other moving parts to making a product successful. Vibe coding solves one part of the creation (and introduces its own challenges to go around). We have to be persistent with the overall vision, not just the development part.
