The next chapter

Your body knows when the next chapter is coming.

Signs I’ve been ignoring till now:

1. Anger – You’re frustrated over things that didn’t used to faze you, and angry over things which only bothered you somewhat. You procrastinate on even the small tasks. Counterintuitively, healing brings anger, because healing means realising the boundaries you used to be relaxed about actually matter to you. What was normalised, no longer is.

2. Fatigue – It’s exhausting even doing things that used to be easy. The chronic brainfog, the ever-preset fatigue that you can’t shake off. Even things which used to give you joy and energy stopped doing that. Once you were driven. Now you are nowhere. Even in rest you feel restless, even though you’re so tired.

3. Friendships – Your social circle shrank rapidly. People you loved to meet don’t vibe with you. Every week you had coffees and meetups to go to. Now you can’t tolerate the small talk, and just want to stay home. Colleagues and connections you socialize and networked with, go cold.

4. Careers – You held on to a job far too long, even when the writing was on the wall. Just in case, you thought. Now, you just want nothing to do with your old job, the company, the vocation, the industry, and everyone in it. You can’t wait to start your new thing.

5. Trophies – Achievements, rewards, results, outcomes, prizes that were shiny now looks dull. You fail to muster the excitement from achieving something you wanted so badly. Rooms you wanted to belong in, the recognition and approval you craved, the fame and fortune from success… yawns. Then you get excited over small results that doesn’t mean much objectively. Registering your first business. Launching your first SaaS. Earning that first MRR dollar. You find yourself daydreaming over these small wins more and more.
