The push-up challenge

A few weeks ago I wasn’t able to do a full push-up. But I started with wall push-ups and those are crazy-easy. I am able to do over 70 of these. Usually boredom comes before exhaustion.

But with the nudging of a friend, I started doing knee push-ups and attempted to do a full push-up. I could only manage to do half of a full push-up and I think 10-15 knee push-ups.

I’ve been practicing knee and full push-ups on and off for the past few weeks. Yesterday I was able to do 6 full push-ups, but I didn’t go all the way to the floor. But I tried to improve my form with single push-ups.

Today I was able to do 3 full push-ups, going to the ground. 😍

My friend reminded me that I’m carrying about 50kg (110lbs) extra weight than a healthy person, so I should be celebrating this achievement.

My primary goal right now is to shed the extra weight, but I’m also looking forward to building muscle and feeling more comfortable with resistance training.

So far I’m happy with my new health commitments and I hope I can sustain them without my body complaining about being stressed out with a calorie deficit and more exercise. 😄
