True company

“I hate who steals my solitude without, in exchange, offering me true company.” – Nietzsche

This is why I’ve almost completely stopped socializing altogether the past 2 years.

No more quick coffees.
No more catchup lunches.
No more conferences.

No more new friends.
Almost zero time with old friends.

Because true company is hard to find.
Worse: The ones who do offer true company, have all relocated overseas.

I feel this more and more the older I get.
All the more at a time when I feel I need to protect my energy, my peace.
And the older I get the more peace I seek.
Faux company destroys that peace.
Solitude preserves that peace.

So why bother?

There’s enough on my plate.

That’s why I’m in a cult. The Cult of Solitude. No you cannot become a member.
