Use the difficulty

And if the weight of failure visits you again, carry it as proof you tried.
And if pain visits you again, let it witness who you became without it.
And if the weight of grief visits you again, carry it as proof you loved deeply.
And if your wounds still ache, know that pain is the price of becoming whole.

It doesn’t always feel fair, but it is what it is with unwelcomed events in our lives. We can’t choose when it comes but we can choose how to respond to it.

I always loved Micheal Caine’s “Use the difficulty”. He said it in context for acting, but really, it can be for anything in life.

Whatever happens, use it. Use the advantage. Use the difficulty. Especially use the difficulty, because that’s when you need it the most, even when it’s the hardest to do.

It’s not about positive thinking though. It’s just classic pragmatism, Stoicism.

What can you do? Whining does nothing. Yeah embrace it, recognise its presence. But use it to solve it, or to frame it correctly so that we can move forward.

Use the difficulty.

Beautiful philosophy! And I loved his addition of “and avoid them, if you can!” He’s not saying: Seek out the difficulty, but if it happens, make the most of it. 👍🏻
