Well-meaning distractions

The thing about building in public and asking questions on X is… you might end distracted.

Since going viral with my tweets about PHP and SQLite, I got everyone telling me—out of goodwill for most part—the links and tools that might be helpful, to help me scale or overcome the limitations of the PHP and SQLite.

But most of them have no idea what I’m trying to achieve, what products I want to build, and none of the context how I’m building them (as a solo dev building small indie products, instead of an enterprise team building massive, distributed app serving millions).

So the tools, while helpful to them, were just distractions for me.

I don’t need to read up on why using Turso, Litestream or LiteFS helps with remote, replicated access or regional distribution. I’m not building that kind of product yet. At least, not yet and maybe never.

These replies, while well-meaning and definitely interesting to know, only strayed me off my path, from my one and only aim now - build a fking API app using PHP and SQLite. For that, I don’t need all those bells and whistles. Just a plain PHP app, SQLite hosted on the app itself, on a $5 VPS, and we’re good to go. I can figure out the rest along the way.

So okay enough of going down rabbit holes that doesn’t help move the needle.

Back to coding.
