Whirlwind weekend

I am still recovering from a whirlwind weekend and an absolutely mind-blowing event. ICYMI, here is my newsletter recap of the event.

Event recaps are my most challenging newsletters. How do you distill multiple days of an experience into a summary and a tight newsletter format? I think I'm able to hit the mark most of the time, and today's newsletter was one of the longest ones ever. And that's just the free one. It took me between 5 and 6 hours to complete, and it was all me, no AI. I have plenty more to add to the Club Member version coming out later this week.

There was extra activity last night as the concert I had booked months ago finally arrived. John Mellencamp came to the desert, and since we are both Indiana boys, I thought I'd see him one more time before he hangs up his guitar. I have seen him once before. The venue was the Talking Stick Resort Amphitheater, which has a combination of covered seats and lawn seats. Unfortunately, about 30 minutes into the set, a raging lightning/thunderstorm hit. They paused the concert for everyone to take shelter. My partner was so freaked out that there would have been no hope of returning to the concert, which I read had resumed about an hour later. We were in quite the downpour on the way to the car. I found it exhilarating. I took it as a sign from the universe that I needed a cleansing after all the work I did this weekend.

When I saw Talking Stick, I was like, “That’s a Native American-owned resort.”

Oh yes, many native casinos and resorts here.
