Why do flying cars matter?

So we got flying cars now, thanks to Elon Musk! A truly historical moment.
But why does this matter?
Why flying cars when humanity can’t drive without fatal accidents?
Why flying cars when there’s still wars, famines, and poverty?
Why flying cars when the economy is in free dive recession?
Why flying cars when governments are incompetent or corrupt?
Why flying cars when we might all be out of a job from AI?
Why flying cars when SaaS is dead and software moats gone?
Because we need hope, optimism, and excitement for the future.
Because if we let cynicism swallow us, we will truly die. As a species.
Because when we just look over our shoulder in fear all the time, we degress.
It is important in this often difficult and troubled world for there to be things that also inspire and make you feel great to be part of humanity – @elonmusk
Why do flying cars matter?
It matters as much as food on the table, water to drink, a shelter over your head.
It gives us reason to live, to want a future to begin with.
We hope, there we are.
