Wipe out

This morning I had my 30-minute assessment with a personal trainer. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. My InBody scan shows all the work I have ahead of me to reach my goal weight and build muscle. We did some upper- and lower-body exercises, and I left committed to continuing with a personal trainer to develop a workout plan.

After this meeting, I went to a farm store near my house to pick up some eggs and other items. The trip was uneventful until I exited the building and walked to my car. The parking area isn't paved; it's covered with large gravel that shifts underfoot. I had walked on it many times, but this time was different. My legs were wobbly and weak from the morning's exercise, and I was off balance holding the bag of groceries in my right hand. I lost my balance and fell forward, face-planting right in the gravel. Ouch!

I braced myself with my left hand, but I tried to save the groceries with my right. My knees were on fire, my left hand was tingling, and I had a small cut above my left eye. My partner was shocked to hear the story when I got home. I lost only 4 eggs out of two dozen, and the only other thing that hurt was my ego. It is unacceptable to be this out of shape.
