Write for the readers you want to spend time with

Many writers try to appeal to readers they don’t enjoy interacting with. They try to be too analytical, but end up attracting conspiracy theorists or annoying scrutinizers. Some writers want to spread positivity, but end up attracting negative people who see no way out of their negativity, becoming a drain on the writer.

You want to write for your ideal readers. The ones you’d enjoy interacting with. This can be done in how you present yourself, your style of writing (who will find it interesting?), and how you interact with your readers.

Writers don’t have complete control in who they attract. Sometimes the platform they use to spread their writing can contribute to drawing in the wrong crowd (think X vs Instagram), but even then there’s no clear-cut way of avoiding the kinds of readers you don’t want to interact with.

However, writing FOR the haters will invite the haters because your content will be directed to them.
