Writing as aimless activity vs discreet deliverables.

Many, many writers experience frustration when it comes to writing because they’re focused on writing as an activity, without being clear on what pieces they want to produce.

Are you working on an article? Do you want to express an idea with an X post? Are you bundling ideas into a book?

What will the title/headline be? How long will it be?

Without these decisions, we can easily get caught up with endless writing that goes nowhere. Or staring at a blank screen (or piece of paper), not knowing what to write about.

If you want to feel fulfilled by the writing you do, it’s important to feel like you’re working towards a clear deliverable. This will provide you with a sense of completion and something you can actually share with the world.

Lifelog can give you a taste of this, but even daily journaling can be effective as long as you feel like you’ve completed your journal entry for the day (otherwise the activity of writing can take over your day).

What pieces of work are you currently working on or would like to work on?

Give them names (titles), a sense of scope, and work towards completion!
