You can convince yourself of anything. Even more so if you’re smart.

Can’t ship projects? Because I’m too busy. Yeah I got a list of all the reasons I have no bandwidth to work on my own projects.

Can’t hit $10k MRR? Because I’m not competent enough yet. I can come up with so many skills I still need to get good at.

Can’t find a way out of my slump? Because of burnout. I wrote endlessly about how tired I am. I understand my chronic fatigue so well.

But all that ‘understanding’ does nothing to bring about change. Because “motivated reasoning”. We use our intellect to justify our failures, shortcomings, and difficulties. We don’t understand why.

We just understand why we don’t want to understand.

You’re the easiest person to fool.
If you think you’re smart, you just made it 10x easier to fool yourself.

You can convince yourself of anything.
