A house in order

There’s this scene in one of my all-time fav movies Limitless where the protagonist arrives home after taking the limitless pill. And the first thing he did in his IQ 3000 mind was not to write the novel he always wanted to write, or play the stock market to get rich. The first thing he did was… he tidied up his room.

Funny, because he could do anything now, but he chose to tidy his room. That scene always struck me as strange but intriguing.

But it’s not hard to imagine why.

They say, your external environment shapes your inner environment. Messy desk, messy mind. Tidy space, tidy thoughts. And it’s true.

First step to building capacity is to create space for it to happen.

There’s something about having to do it physically as well. The past few months I’ve been doing half an hour of tidying and cleaning around the house after lunch. Helps with digestion. Keeps me from sitting down right after food.

And the best part is tidying feels great. You accomplished something you can see, touch and feel. The house looks neater, more open, more pleasing after that. There’s a sense of lightness from doing it. And that sets me up for a great work session after lunch.

A house in order is a mind in order.
A mind in order is a life in order.

As below, so above.
As without, so within.

I approve. One of the fundamental habits of health is establishing a healthy environment.

The funny thing is, so many people think they can think their way into a healthy life. When actually the external environment is way more powerful
