August last year: “What was hard mode in January is now cruise mode in August.”

What was cruise mode in August last year is now hard mode in August, one year on.

Why?
What changed?

Nothing.

But I was all but running on adrenaline last August. Cruise mode boosted by fear, anxiety and fight-flight energy is not cruise mode. It’s bracing, in survival mode dressed in optimism and hope. It’s easy to mistake one for the other. And it’s a debt that you need to pay back in energy, time, and spirit.

And I’m paying back the debt now.
