March 2024 wrap-up

I was saying March will be like threading water. And indeed it was. Consulting and training workshops 3-4 times per week had been fulfilling in some ways (I get to do work that I’m competent in), but it leaves me with little juice left for anything else.
I’m barely here, as most of you can see.
I’m barely anywhere else, in fact.
Yet somehow I still managed to find time to launch a new tech for good project UVIndex.SG, in a day. I guess the necessity of needing the tool due to the extreme sunny weather is the mother of invention!
Yet I also managed to create a version 2 of the password-protected sections Carrd plugin today too, within 1h.
So not all is lost on the indie hacking front, at the very least.
I guess I lived up to the intention I set in the beginning of the month – just diving in and do the best I can juggling them all, without bracing, without overthinking, without second-guessing.
That singular focus was good.
Now, for a bit of a breather…

MARCH 2024 METRICS
– Revenue:
- Current MRR: $127
- One-off revenue: $1449
- Total revenue: $1576
- Total costs = $322
- Total profit: $1254
- Profit margin: 79.5%
- Total revenue: $1397.40
- Sold 21 plugins at $480 revenue. Sold 3 mobile navbars, 7 testimonial sliders, 4 mega navbars, 3 listing with filters, 1 randomizer, 1 dark mode pro, 2 video button.
- $917.40 in affiliate income from Carrd. Affiliate income = Referral ($879.60) and Seller ($37.80) program. Another big jump this month in referrals, like last month. What’s going on?!
- Created MVP of randomizer plugin v2, thanks to @markbowley!
- Created MVP of password-protected sections plugin v2, thanks to Jamal!
- Officially launched plugin on channels, more to come over the next week.
- Created a private Github repo and backed up my Carrd plugins to Github.
- Reinvested $92 revenue back into product in sponsorship ads.
- Telegram Carrd group at 116 members.
- Substack subscribers at 161.
– Outsprint design consultancy
- LinkedIn metrics: 2053 followers, 11728 impressions + 162 engagements (based on past 28 days), 443 profile views (based on past 90 days), 52 search appearances.
- Midway through 1 coaching project worth S$9k with non-profit client.
- Conducted and completed 2 design thinking training workshops with educational institute - 1 x 1-day virtual workshop, and another 2-day in-person workshop. S$2.4k fees. Received S$1k so far.
- Finishing up design thinking workshops worth $6k in fees with DSG for a gov ministry.
- Completed a n=15 user recruitment gig for gov agency - $6k fees received.
- TOTAL runway extended by about $23k!
- Got a potential coaching collab project in Aug 2024! Discussing details, setting up proposals etc.
- Still awaiting if will get offered the role of Lead/Senior Lead, User Insights & Service Design, SGN, EDB Singapore.
- Restarted applying for jobs again. Can’t put all the eggs in one basket!
– Lifelog
- MRR at $127/month.
- –$10 MRR. 1 customer cancelled subscription. Thanks for all the support, Dawn!
- Had to refund 3 months of subscription to user who kept forgetting to cancel.
- 1 new Lifelog trial sign-ups this month. Welcome @jspeck27!
- New this month: Started a new Telegram chat group called Daily Lifelogs that’s a daily feed of Lifelog posts written by all writers over at Lifelog. Also notifies when there’s downtime. Re-deployed Kayla bot there as it was too much noise in the chat group.

- Hit 91 days of #commit365 challenge! The Commit365 accountability chat group on Telegram. is also at 78 members.
- Twitter stats for Mar vs Feb:

- On X a lot less this month due to busy consulting, but it feels nice. Social media is addictive. How can I better balance it?
- Thinking about how to ship 10x faster, realised it’s been 10 years since indie hacking was first seeded in my head, and wondering if I’m wired wrongly because in more in my element when I ship tech for good products.
- Got 1 sale (US$47)! This was my very first Starter license for List Kit boilerplate… thanks Brady!
- Not started marketing on Envato marketplace account.
- Added new component - dark mode template.
- Added numerous new items to SaaS Starters, Commit365 and Directory Starters directories.
- Started my volunteering position on Advisory Panel for Digital Innovation at National Heritage Board. Advised for 2 days, and next might advise on a new museum they are going to build!
- Bought new domain museum.sg for S$64.50.
- Bought new domain uvindex.sg for S$64.50. Built and launched UVIndex.SG in a day! Received US$5 coffee. Went viral on Reddit r/singapore.
