October 2024 goals

In August I had a boring month.
In September, I had a boring month with sprinkles of fun.
In October, I want a boring month with big fun.

I don’t know how though.

Or rather, I don’t want to be too intentional. The whole point about fun is the surprise, and planning fun is probably the most un-fun thing to try to do, isn’t it?

Just continuing the theme from last month of taking things lightly. Not making everything into a life mission. Not taking everything like it’s life or death.

So this is a roundabout way of saying… the intention for October is to have no intention. And just ride the wave, go with the flow.

That worked for me, and I want to stay in it a bit more.

Exactly one year ago in October 2023, my goal then was to simply survive. After everything that’s happened, anything beyond boring survival is a bonus.

It depends on how the planning is done. I’ve heard of a study that planning a trip can be positive and enjoyable even if you don’t end up taking the trip because the anticipation is part of the experience.

I’ve had plenty of boring evenings and weekends because I didn’t plan fun activities in advance. If anything, I want to do a bit more planning to make sure I make time for fun stuff. Going with the flow can still work by remaining open to opportunities for fun that come in the spur of the moment. 😃

Yeah some planning is inevitable and necessary. I guess what I was trying to get at is… for me at least, planning a task to have fun, makes it become more about completing the task than the fun. Destination over journey. I have more fun when I focus on the journey
