Touch typing

@peterdannock’s recent post on his typing challenges got me curious about my own typing speed and how I can improve my typing speed. After a quick search for “touch typing” videos I came across a few website suggestions to test and improve my typing speed.

  • 10fastfingers: Pretty straigthtforward. Apparently it uses the most common words in the English language, so improving your speed on them will help you improve your typing speed

  • typeracer: This is a fun website where you compete with other users on who types the fastest

the typeracer interface with users represented by different cars competing in a race

  • keybr: I’ve not used this website yet, but it seems to focus on common letter sequences to help users get more comfortable typing them out. The focus on specific sequences might be more effective in drilling down specific typing skills (and overcoming some friction with certain sequences) than the other websites

My typing speed seems to be around 55-65wpm.

How fast do YOU type? Try out the first website and let me know!
