What does rest look like? Version 2026

In 2023, rest for me looked like a slow personal retreat in eco-villa in Bali.

In 2024, rest was just resting at home, while working as little as possible.

Then in 2025, rest comes in some form of hygge – watching slow, low dopamine videos on Youtube in a dimmed room on a Sunday.

Now in 2026? Rest looks like… floating in the void. Just moving through the motions of resting - eating well, drinking water, napping, watching calm content, but no deep sense of pleasure. No feeling of being rested. Just time gone, in a numbed haze of routines. It’s never enough, yet never restful. I cannot even rest now.

Is this the beginning of a downward spiral pattern of chronic exhaustion, or just rest working slowly down to my bones to bring up all the fatigue I never knew I had?

Both look the same early on, but the former’s trajectory is down down and down, while the latter’s trajectory is down down and up.

Small but big difference.
