June 2024 wrap-up

For June, I wanted to start small, start slow. And I did. Felt my motivation return, started learning PHP and SQLite, had loads of fun reconnecting with old retro-nostalgic tools like Filezilla, and got a bunch of impressions from sharing it.

I’ve not decided on my next product still, but okay, at least I started moving… Next month will be a good time to start building that new thing.

Most importantly, I had fun with wife and son in Melaka, our long overdue trip overseas since son was born. I feel relieved and glad I could gift them that trip.

Still trying to not push hard too quickly, and learn to work with joy and presence, and be more creative and purposeful with short breaks in between the pockets of time I have.

$831 in affiliate income from Carrd. Affiliate income = Referral ($756) and Seller ($75) program.
Made $1500 from work done for managing @Carrd X account.
No new plugins launched this month.
Created 3 .crd.co subdomain sites for redirecting to main site - plugin.crd.co, plugins.crd.co, pluginsfor.crd.co
Reinvested $97 revenue back into product in sponsorship ads.
Started sponsorship of Pinterest influencer on their Pinterest page.
Telegram Carrd group at 141 members.

In “Outside Activity” background/reference checks phase of interviewing for Deputy Directory position at CoCreate Lab, MSF.
Attended groundbreaking ceremony for Founders’ Memorial. Thinking about my ‘founding father’ moments…
Spoke to gov agency on possible project on service blueprint in Dec 2024.
Looking forward to 8 confirmed design thinking training workshops with SP UXC for rest of 2024 and early 2025, starting in mid July! 4 online, 4 face-to-face workshops. Fees ~ S$10k.

– Indie solopreneur build in public journey

Felt my motivation come back… FINALLY!
Installed old school internet tools Xampp, Filezilla, bought $5 VPS from Digital Ocean for PHP and SQLite. Learned how to build, deploy a quick & dirty JSON API using PHP, SQLite/MySQL, Apache, to a custom domain. Now learning on PHP API authentication. Getting close to my dream tech stack.
Decided to spend less time yapping on X, but ended up going mega viral on 1 tweet and good reach on a few others due to building in public with PHP and SQLite. Hit 2M impressions this month.

Added 1 new feature to directories and boilerplate - a count for total no. of items in the directory to the Show All button.
Updated keyword from “info directories” to “business directories” after keyword research - more search volume, also more matched to search intent (“info directory” mostly shows results related to computing file systems).
