Time hops

Not trying to humblebrag, but I’ve been really getting a lot of value from the time hop feature on Lifelog.

I made it to compare and contrast with my mindscape from a year ago. And now, I’m discovering that I was thinking or doing things in the same themes at around the same time last year.

Like how I had an epiphany last year about how I succeed in my products when I help others succeed, how that was one of the key factors that led me to having some success with my Carrd plugins. Then recently I flipped on my decision to stop growing my plugins and decided to continue growing it at a steady pace, since product-market fit takes years. Both occasions were important realisations.

Or how last year I wrote about why you shouldn’t believe advice from prolific and successful people, and then recently I wrote about why heeding advice like “Don’t quit” is bad.

Another coincidence: This period seems to be a season of Twitter experiments. Last year on 22 Sep I talked about just doing 1 tweet a day, and on same day lately, I wrote about new Twitter experiments I’m trying out, including tweeting many times a day (trying the opposite of last year).

Last but not least: About health and work. Last year I gave my 100% to a consultancy project while also balancing self-care. I thought I did pretty well between health and work. This year, I have to give my 100% again to solve a tough financial situation, even having to entertain going back to being employed, while trying to maintain sanity, calm and self-care.

It’s surprising to me to observe how things rebound, repeat or rhyme.

The time hop feature had definitely brought about a new layer of reflection and discovery… which was originally what making Lifelog was all about for me – to help me live a more reflective life.
