May 2024 wrap-up

At the start of May I said I’m feeling burned out. Maybe take a few days, I said. And before I knew it, I took the whole month. Not 100% away from work, but just doing the bare minimum to keep some fires going, while I give myself permission to rest rest rest from my burnout.

So I ended up not doing much this month. I guess I needed it. But burnout is a luxury for me now. So I got to restart, whether I’m back at 110% or not.

A good reminder to keep my eye on the prize: My ideal work-life.

So maybe my list in my April 2024 wrap-up plus my $10k/m plans could point to what I build next:

  • Revive Sheet2Bio. Grow through SEO.
  • Build a Carrd FAQs info product, or Carrd AI bot.
  • Micro-SaaSes for SaaS.
  • Add new coaching sprint package to Outsprint, refresh site
  • Build side project ideas SleepHack.Ing Museum.SG, Keyboard.SG, InclusiveDesign.SG, Career Conversation Cards
  • Continue building Carrd plugins. In fact, triple down on building more than 12 this year.
  • Continue growing Lists Kit through SEO and pSEO.
  • A Telegram chat bot using Groq’s Llama3

Which one is it gonna be?

Onwards to June!

  • Total revenue: $2910.90
  • Sold 18 plugins at $480 revenue. Sold 2 mobile navbars, 5 testimonial sliders, 1 mega navbars, 6 listings, 3 video button, 1 startup bundle.
  • $930.90 in affiliate income from Carrd. Affiliate income = Referral ($869.70) and Seller ($61.20) program.
  • Made $1500 from work done for managing @Carrd X account in May.
  • No new plugins launched this month, even though I made them:
    • Password-protected section, version 2.
    • Right-to-left mega navbar plugin (for languages like Hebrew/Chinese)
    • Auto-updating translation button (helped a Carrd friend out with his F&B menu site)
    • Fixed/rewrote timeline diagram plugin to just use plain HTML and CSS, because Vuetify conflicts with Carrd.
  • Reinvested $92 revenue back into product in sponsorship ads.
  • Got agreement with YouTube influencer to also sponsor ads on their Pinterest posts. At total of US$30/m (additional +$5 to the existing Youtube sponsorship). Pinterest sponsorship to start next month, in June.
  • Telegram Carrd group at 134 members.
  • Substack subscribers at 192.

– Outsprint design consultancy

– Lifelog

  • MRR at $127/month.
  • 1 customer cancelled monthly subscription. It’s been awesome having you, @evielync!
  • 1 free trial ended and monthly subscription kicked in. Thanks so much, @poppacalypse!
  • No new features this month.
  • Lifelog chat group at 27 members.
  • I didn’t engage much with anyone this month due to burnout. Sorry guys, will be back soon!

– Indie solopreneur build in public journey

  • Got $10 of coffee from a tweet… thanks Asad!
  • Felt so burned out from 3 jobs, 10 projects from Feb to April, had to rest this whole month!
  • Badly needed a tech upgrade, so bought a new money-printing machine! A refurbished space grey 14" MacBook Pro, M2 Pro Chip (12‑Core CPU, 19‑Core GPU), 32GB RAM, 1TB SSD. Costs S$3.5k (~US$2.4k) - that’s the max I can go on my budget to get more RAM. Maybe next time for the 128GB RAM, when I hit $10k/m revenue!
  • New plans for hitting $10k/m, and what to build.
  • Did stock take of all my domains, listed them all in a Google Sheet with fees = 47 in total, costs ~$1000/y in fees 😅
  • New algo changes on X again, leading to all-or-nothing impressions. Building in public as marketing is dead. Now back to building in public to make friends.

– Tech for good
– Keto List Singapore
– Sheet2Bio
